Chemical / Process Engineer - Pharma Industry

Job Purpose

Provide process engineering support for existing and new processes in the Cork site to ensure that the site’s technical, quality and safety metrics are all achieved.

Accountability Scope of Responsibility
• Continuously develop engineering capability and knowledge of processes and equipment to drive a continuous improvement mindset.
• Support the introduction of new technologies to improve processes in line with business requirements.
• Support ongoing performance management of key measures of the production processes.
• Provide technical and process engineering support for both wet end processes, product isolation and drying and product particle size reduction as required.
• Support troubleshooting activities.
• Manage the required engineering changes in ones area of responsibility.
• Participate in rigorous technical risk assessments for plant changes/product introduction.
• Contribute to the resolution of technical investigations on plant.
• Support process and equipment validation activities on plant.
• Support the completion of critical safety assessments for plant changes, process changes and new product introduction.
• Work closely with the operations team on all aspects of production and production support including process start-up, routine production, and product change-over.
• Actively participate to Technology Transfer process from R&D or other sites.
• Support the completion of assessments of new business opportunities.
• Provide technical support for Capital engineering projects relating to NCE’s, existing products, and major process re-development.
• Perform duties in a compliant manner and behave in accordance with site SOP’s, GSK EHS standards and guidelines and relevant legal requirements

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Responsibilities/Scope of Responsibilities
• Perform duties in a compliant manner and behave in accordance with site SOP’s, GSK EHS standards and guidelines and relevant legal requirements
• Read and understand Standard Operation Procedures applicable to role
• Report all accidents, incidents and any EHS issues using the appropriate process /system to your line manager or, if required, the Occupational Health Advisor.
• Maintain work area in an inspection ready state and clean as you go to maintain good safe housekeeping standards.
• Be aware of the impact of your job activities on EHS issues
• Ensure all engineering changes made have safety considerations and best practices as core attributes.
• Ensure Basis of Safety files are available and up to date for processes

• Participate fully in our site’s quality initiatives and ensure that all relevant quality standards are adhered to.
• Maintain GMP standards where appropriate to your role

• Attend training and complete assessments as required.
• Ensure Quality and GMP are at the forefront of changes proposed.
• Ensure all technical changes are risk assessed

Salary dependent on experience, along with extensive benefits suite. Minimum salary for somebody with 3 year experience circa €40K +

Cerinte:

Requirements:

• Honours degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Have 1-6 years’ experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Primary Pharmaceutical process introduction and manufacturing support (Commercial or R&D)
• Process development and technology transfer
• Motivated self-starter with a strong interest in understanding the fundamental engineering and science associated with NCE development.
• Positive, can-do approach and enthusiasm with a high level of flexibility, accountability and drive.
• Strong planning, organisational and positive interpersonal skills.
• Proven performance in high performing, multi-disciplined teams
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• IT literate to the demands of current data system architecture and electronic communications.
• Proven track record in delivering safety and quality performance in a fast-paced production environment
• Effective problem solving skills and use of root cause analysis tools
